Private jet charter and flights to Samoa
The ‘Cradle of Polynesia’ is a tropical paradise known for its friendly people and vibrant culture. Located in the glorious South Pacific, Samoa is made up of two main islands, Savai'i and Upolu, with four much smaller islands studding the surrounding waters. Experience it all: request a private jet charter quote from Air Charter Service.
Upolu is home to Samoa’s small colonial-style capital, Apia, a harbour-side hub buzzing with restaurants, markets, shops and cultural attractions. Visit the Samoa Cultural Village for an authentic taste of local culture, watching Samoan craftsmen at work and tasting freshly made cuisine prepared in a traditional stone oven; and uncover the country’s history at the Museum of Samoa, housed in a century-old colonial building.
Famous Scottish author Robert Louis Stevenson – who penned classic novels including Treasure Island – spent his final years in Samoa and his mansion is now a beautiful museum filled with fascinating memorabilia. After exploring inside, stroll through the stunning Vailima Botanical Garden before visiting Stevenson's final resting place at the top of Mount Veaa.
Apia is also a great launching pad for discovering some of Samoa’s amazing natural attractions. Just a five-minute walk from the city centre is the Palolo Deep National Marine Reserve, a snorkellers’ paradise teeming with vibrant coral and brightly coloured fish; while a 15-minute drive takes you to the Papaseea Sliding Rocks, where thrill-seekers can shoot down natural rock waterslides into refreshing waterholes. Further afield, go diving in the To Sua Ocean Trench in Lotofaga on the island’s south coast – a 30-metre deep crater filled with turquoise seawater and connected to the sea by an underwater tunnel. While here, enjoy breathtaking clifftop views and explore rock pools.
Reacheable via a 90-minute ferry ride from Upolu, Samoa’s largest island, Savai’i, is a natural utopia of verdant rainforests, tranquil sandy beaches and rugged mountain landscapes. Visitors retreat to the ‘Big Island’ for the gentle pace of life and endless natural attractions, which offer a welcome escape from the stresses and strains of Western life. Magical experiences include swimming with turtles at a sanctuary in Satoalepai; marvelling at the spectacular Afu Afu Waterfall as it cascades from the rainforest into a freshwater pool below; and watching as the impressive Alofaaga Blowholes propel plumes of water hundreds of feet up into the air.
Active types can book a kayaking tour around the reef-fringed coastline; go diving at the popular Juno shipwreck among endless shoals of darting fish; or hike to the crater of Mount Matavanu, a forested volcano in the northeast of the island. The volcano erupted in the early 1900s and the resulting Saleaula Lava Fields are another must-visit – a dramatic geological marvel of wizened lava tubes. Those who prefer a fly-and-flop escape should head for the palm-fringed beaches lining the eastern coast between Siufaga and Pu’apu’a (remember to ask permission at the nearest village before swimming in the sea).
